Cleburne’s housing stock spans more decades than almost any other city in the Hobson footprint. The historic neighborhoods near the courthouse square include early 20th century homes that were retrofitted for central air decades after they were built — often with ductwork shoehorned into spaces it was never designed for, undersized return air paths, and HVAC systems that struggle against the home’s original construction. The mid-century neighborhoods around the city core have systems that have been replaced two or three times over the decades. The newer development on the north side and along the highway corridors brought standard suburban construction with builder-grade systems.
